Shelly Bartek is known internationally as an award-winning impressionist artist, capturing story telling images and earning top commissions from leading corporations.
As early as the age of seventeen, her portfolio won 1st place in National Scholastics earning her a scholarship. She attended a school for commercial art and graduated with a degree in commercial art and advertising.
In her first years of her career, she held the position of Senior Art Director at J.Greg Smith Advertising, leading national campaigns such as the U.S Forest Service, the National Arbor Day Foundation and national travel and tourism accounts. She was in charge of concepts, layouts and the direction of all photographers and illustrators, which lead to her becoming an illustrator.
She’s received world-wide exposure through her commission for the United Nation’s 2006 International Collective Stamp Series. More recognition followed from her Flower Poster Series presented at the New York’s Decor Expo. The promotion by Art Business News & Decor Magazines earned her posters world-wide distribution. Shelly has expanded into the fine art world where she now shows in galleries from Miami, Florida to the California coast of Carmel.
Shelly’s illustrative art has been featured on Paramount Pictures TV Series, B & G International Wine Labels, Paul Simon’s Music Tour, New York’s best seller Ann Taylor Book covers, the Wall Street Journal and in more recent years she’s created art and toured nation-wide, painting live for the brand launching of Blue Moon Coors Brewery.
Most recently, taking a symbolic turn, her art leads to a new segue: to stir the hidden unconscious liberating our imagination and thought. Her art now reveals a more symbolic underlying meaning to the objects she paints.
"My work is an interpretation of my journey and the expression of how I connect with nature. I strive to blend a poetic mix of pigments and gold leaf, transforming light on canvas as I see it reflect the landscape. My purpose is to create a window for the viewer's wall and bring joy." - Shelly Bartek
