•Christy Glass• Biography

Christy learned to blow glass at Urban Glass in New York City. She became fascinated with the ancient process of glassmaking and the challenge of forming beautiful handmade objects out of this molten material. Soon she began working and designing her own artwork made of glass.

Christy has studied glass at the Pilchuck Glass School, The Penland School of Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Corning, and Centro Studio Vetro in Venice Italy. She has taught glassblowing at Urban Glass in Brooklyn, NY. Pratt Fine Arts Center, in Seattle, WA., Uptown Glassworks in Renton, WA., Snow farm in Williamsburg, MA., and Maho Bay on St. John in the US. Virgin Islands.

The beauty of Christy glass is that no two are exactly the same. Each piece has been carefully shaped by the hands of the artist creating a uniqueness that cannot be imitated by any machine. Christy’s work is a continuation of the 3000-year-old tradition of glassmaking and the American art glass movement.
